In 2002 I began to experience heart palpitations. I was driving my vehicle down the road to have coffee with a buddy. I felt relaxed and I was not aware of any stress in my life. As I pulled up to a light that was just changing to red, my heart took off. I felt as though I was going to pass out. I could see things going black. I quickly slammed the vehicle into ‘park’ just in case I blacked out.
I remember coughing a couple of times and thinking “what the hell’s going on?”. Fortunately, by the time the light when green, I was coming out of it enough to chance proceeding. It passed in minutes and I put it behind me. But it scared me like nothing else has ever done!
Two hours later, while having coffee with my friend, the rapid heart rate returned. I could not continue. I told my friend I had to go to the hospital and I got up and left. I drove myself to the emergency ward, which was only two miles a way. I had a heart rate of 220 beats per minute and felt like I was about to die.
After was all said and done, they gave me some drugs to slow my heart down, then they sent me for all the tests they could think of. Over the next two months I did every possible test for heart issues that they could come up with. Every time the doctor told me the same thing. “Your heart is fine and you can do whatever you want!” They told me that it was all in my head, and that I was likely stressed. So the usual orders came for me to stop consuming coffee, alcohol and salty foods. I did all that they asked and still the rapid heart rate returned to haunt me over and over again.
By 2003 I was virtually afraid to go out of the house. I thought I would have to lose my career. I got mad. When this Irishman gets mad, people normally seek cover. I spend 7 years dedicating myself to about 5 hours a day researching the subject and connecting with health professionals and others that have heart palpitations all over the world. By 2009 I had a pretty substantial database of information.
In late 2009, I have fully digested the data and began to isolate risk factors. I tested my hypotheses over and over again and by the end of the year, I had it beaten. I am now palpitation free and, most importantly, I know what causes them and I know how to prevent them. I created a website dedicated to palpitations and I wrote a book on the issue. I helped hundreds of others with whom I had established contact over the years.
The fix is non-invasive, easy to do and will leave you with an overall superior health. It does require that you change your eating habits, but for most people who have been “repaired”, they would never go back to what they had.
I encourage all people who have issues with heart palpitations to do some research on alkalinity and find out how you too can beat the beast!
