There are many methods to assist those suffering anxiety, panic attacks and ongoing stress as a result of simply not being able to cope with the trials and tribulations of everyday life in the modern world. The problem with most of these techniques is that they actually focus on the problem and remind the sufferer to be aware of their problem.

A well known but under-utilised method of addressing anxiety and panic is to spend a little time each day – even as little as five or ten minutes – considering the things in life we do have to be grateful for. A Gratitude List, if you like. If you’re suffering a serious, or tragic situation, this method may have little effect. However for the greater portion of normal, everyday people, who live a normal, everyday life in a developed country of the world, our real, true and justified worries are few – relatively speaking – and we have a lot to be grateful for.

Consider the scene confronting you if you were to walk through the corridors of a children’s oncology ward; if you were to walk the streets where the homeless roam; or face a family having lost several family members in a tragedy; or lost the family home to fire or flood. Consider further the millions living in poor nations of the world with little food, no shelter, insufficient medical assistance. The women who needlessly die or suffer physical trauma in childbirth.
